Bienvenido Amigos!
Times have been tough as of late, but things are starting to weather out.

The feeling of being a little piece of butter scraped across too much bread is starting to go away.

I am starting to feel much better now mentally since I took a trip too Cali!
Vegas can get into a persons skin and start eating their insides if they let it.

I don't know if you guys seen this photo before, but here it is anyway:-)
wet dreams.
wet dreams.

After the "storm" hit (read my last blog), a lot of rebuilding had to be done...
One of the main projects was the re-branding of the restaurant. (read my last blog)

I had to be the photographer and do all post production for this campaign concept that PMG's VP of F&B came up with.

Here is the final product. (2 of 5 Ads)

I rented a Speedotron kit. 3 strobes, 2 soft boxes and one umbrella. After looking at the photos now. I wish I replaced the umbrella with another soft box. Thoughts?

The Campaign is still pending approval from the Big Bosses.

I have no comment on the direction of the campaign. It wasn't my vision, but I tried my best to replicate what was requested of me.

During the same week (this week that just passed) I shot some photos for a friends NYC Restaurant concept.

I can't talk too much about the restaurant and the theme but here is one of the photos from the shoot I did. :-)

Juicey Cinna-Bunz! ha!!

Once the campaign gets finalized I will post more :-)

During the same week I had to finish up the final image for my first PHOTO EXPO!!
Here is the flyer!!
MY FIRST EXPO!!
MY FIRST EXPO!!
The First Friday people liked my photos and asked me if I was interested in doing an expo on my photos. I jumped on it a quick as I could. ha!!!

The EXPO will be displaying 5 of my photos. The images will be blown up to
36"x 60" and printed on canvas, then mounted. 3 of the pieces arrived at my house yesterday. They look incredible.

I will post some photos of the EXPO on my next blog :-)

Here is the latest installment to my "Dark Thoughts" Collection.

This was 1 of 2 images that were submitted to the EXPO people. They felt that this one fit the collection the best. I agree.

Here is the other that was submitted as well.

Anyway, that sums up my week. I am very excited about this EXPO. I hope it turns out to be a success.

Thanks for reading.

Carlos

Thank you my friend! Things are starting to settle down, but I still have my fingers crossed! Ha!!
I am glad you like the ads. The restaurant concept is Classic American Dishes changed to a more modern presentation. The place is starting to pick up in business which is good too.

Thanks again and take care!

nice, brother.

i've always told you that vegas does that to you ... suck out your soul.

i mean ... i know what you're around. ;)

like the restaurant concept but feel the server detracts from it. he's right in the center! that's where your eye is lead. i think the eye should be lead to the food even though that's what you left totally coloured!

just a thought.

hope you're well, brother!
Posted by mrLarios on April 29, 2008 10:54 AM
@chris. You are right about the server being distracting. It wasn't my concept. That image is a replica from a food mag tear sheet that was giving to me during the shoot.

I agree with you 100% percent. Also that server isn't a server..... It's Joe the Executive Chef of Social House. Yeah. I know. You don't have to say anything. I know;-)

Hope all is well my friend. Cheeers

I love your beautiful work. Your photography is so fabulous and inspires me that I think I will take a photography class so I can learn to take better photos. I can not wait to see more, please email me when you have an exhibit. Your tasty dessert photo is awesome. So real, I can taste it.... Ha!
Wow! You could be a high fashion photographer, food stylist and much more....
I know you are new to this and have a full time job, but you need to continue to pursue your talent on the side when you have free time. You are so gifted....
Take care, Kimi Matar (Honolulu)
